three stacks

It's been a few weeks since I've purchased a new pair of heels, that has to come to an end.. now! Indecisiveness at it's best, I have narrowed it down to three choices.  The finally choice, still deciding.  Which one should I go for?

Option 1

Option 2

Option 3

teal tiers + a bow

Who can resist being outside when it's in the mid-70's with a slight breeze, my ideal kind of weather.  Enjoying some quality time with my sister, Cortnie of Stylelustpages.  I kept my look simple so my teal layers could be the main focus with a little bow detailing and a pop of color.

wedges, platforms, stilettos..oh my!

Everyone has that one item that they tend to always buy, more so than other items.  My addiction started out with jeans transitioned to handbags now it's shoes.  I consider myself a 'shoe collector' I'll get a pair just to have in my collection, even if I know I'm not going to wear them as much, you never know.  I've gotten to the point that if I go a few weeks without making a purchase, it does not feel right.. shoe withdrawal.  If I come across a pair that I absolutely love, I buy multiple pairs.. in different colors.  To me you can never have too many shoes.

Being that I recently moved, I have yet to really organize my walk-in closet, my shoes take up so much room.  I am still trying to figure out exactly how I want to lay out my collection, thinking of installing shelves so I can just have everything on display when I walk into my closet.

These are some of my heels, I did not include flats, winter shoes, boots, sandals.. so this is kind of "lite."  I' have actually been looking around for a great shoe to purchase this week, eyeing a few, but not sure which one to go for yet.  I am in dire need of a shoe fix! Honestly, I have it bad.

code blue..

Finally, a break from the hot and humid weather. The sun barely came out yesterday and I was completely fine with that. The first chance I got, I threw on a pair of jeans and button up. Casual day for me.

summer melt..

With the temps blazin' way past 100 degrees these days, I have avoided going out the house as much as possible.  But today I must escape for a birthday celebration.  Nothing can keep me cool outside so I wanted to wear something loose fitting so I can have some sort of breeze, and took pictures prior to going outside before the meltdown began.

all the small things..

All white interiors are so simple, but so chic.

With my recent move, things have been quite nonstop since I am constantly on the go.  And with these 100+ temps the last place I want to be is outside, so in the little downtime that I have, I have been planning and searching around for home decor ideas, what I want for each room in my new house and of course the obvious adding new items to my new walk-in closet.  Organization is something I desperately need right now, so here's to getting back to normalcy (because that exists) and enjoying the every day simple things.

I have been eyeing these Jeffrey Campbell heels for a while now, I love a different looking shoe and since I do not own many flats I am always looking around for shoes that I can wear during the day.

Meet Olivia! My little princess - she loves the camera, loves being spoiled and loves to dress up!

I love this mirror for my bathroom, yup bathroom - though I would alter the color because it does not go along with my silver accents in my bathroom.

I am a baker, more than a cook, so I can not wait to settle in and start getting creative in the kitchen and putting my recipes to use!

lucite details

When it comes to shoes, my go-to has always been some sort of heel, the higher the better and preferably at least 5 1/2 inches plus on the heel side.  Not an owner of too many heels under that height.  I can come across a shoe that I really like, but if the heel is not high enough, I pass.  I love the way a sky high heel elongates the legs, super sexy.  However, not only have I been obsessing over lucite heels, but many of the heels that I have come across so far do not meet my typical height standards and for once I am still considering the purchase.  The chunky heel with a rounded toe play into the 1960's vibe and the ankle strap make this such a romantic shoe, I would pair these Chloe shoes with a pleated maxi skirt.  Fashion is all about stepping outside of your comfort zone from time-to-time and now is my time to try a shorter heel!

silk + studs

The weather has not been overtly hot, at least this past weekend, which allowed me to continue on with my long-sleeved outfits in the summer (not on purpose). This silk shirt dress is very light weight and definitely kept me cool. Good thing for the long sleeves, it balances out my mini shirt dress.  I'm all about showing off legs! Such a balancing act.

wardrobe essentials: the basics pt. I

Building your wardrobe is a process that you are constantly adding to over time.  There are certain items that I feel are of more importance than others (varies depending on the person) that are the ultimate basics and foundation to build upon.

When shopping it is always good to keep in mind..
  • Longevity of item - can it be worn in multiple seasons or just one particular season.
  • Splurge vs. Save pieces - when should you spend more or less.
  • Quality vs Quantity - is stacking up on a variety of inexpensive pieces which may not be the best quality a smart move?
It is very easy to get carried away when shopping but these are all questions and factors that should be considered prior to purchasing, it can save you in the long run! Trends, it's always fun to see the different trends each season, however, "trendy pieces" are not items to splurge on.  If there is a trend for the moment, that is just what it is.. for the moment.  Invest more in pieces that can be carried from season-to-season; rather than, spending a ton of money on seasonal items - in return you may be spending a little more, but they will last longer.  Trendy items are great to purchase from chain retailers because you'll get a good deal.  Splurging, spend a bit more on quality items that you will get the most use out of; for example, jeans, shoes, nice leather handbag, outerwear.  Save, on items that can be easily replaceable (tee's, tanks, accessories).

'The Basics' are items that are very versatile and can easily be added on to or paired with, these 6 pieces  are essential components when building your wardrobe.

1. Black Heel

2. Tailored Black Blazer

3. White Tee's/Tank's

4. Fitted Jeans

5.  Nude Heel

6. LBD

Keyword is 'build,' when you look at these 6 pieces, each item can be paired with one or more of the other basics - which is the purpose of establishing a core foundation with your essentials and being able to build your wardrobe from there.

summer blazin..

When it comes to the hot weather, the last thing on a person's mind is covering up, let alone with a long sleeved blazer.  I'm quite set on sticking with the usual go-to's; which include, shorts, maxi dresses, tanks, all things to keep me the least bit hot.  Though I have taken a huge liking to pairing a blazer with a summer outfit, lighter weight fabric, of course.  I find myself still purchasing long sleeved clothing in the summer, which is not normally like me.  But these are great throw on pieces that are easily carried from day to night and paired with just about anything.  With the variety of shades and fabrics, this is a great way to polish up your look or simply add a bit of fun.  It's odd but for some reason this trend has been universally accepted to combine items from different seasons.  The most critical component to pulling off this look is staying cool so balance out your outfit with a shorter hem.  This blazer by 3.1 Phillip Lim is a great added pop of color, whether paired with a dress or denim shorts.
